Why this blog?
Since the 1950s, I have been in love with horses of all breeds. Ultimately, this interest focused on thoroughbreds. I lived in Toronto, which put me at the heart of Canadian racing. The one person I idolized was E. P. Taylor, master of Windfields Farm. I soon found myself on that farm's mailing list which brought me a flood of materials, most of which I still have.
In 1961, when I was eleven years old, Northern Dancer was foaled at Windfields Farm in Oshawa. His birth would ultimately cause an explosion of excitement in my life, and in the lives of all racing fans around the world.
In this blog, I will explore not only the influence of Northern Dancer on the modern thoroughbred, but the impression that other Windfields Farm horses of the time made and make on modern racing.
